Out of studio

Moor TV
September 8, 2011

The digital switchover has finally started across Yorkshire this week (so I've been told). This see the Emley Moor mast which can be seen from our front window switch its signals from analogue to digital.

Did tha know:

- The first mast collapsed in 1969 and the one we see today was built in 1971

- It's the tallest freestanding structure in the UK (330.4 metres high)

- It's 25th tallest tower in the world

- The tower is a Garde II listed building

- Today the mast serves around four million people

The Hepworth Wakefield
May 23, 2011

I finally got the chance to visit the Hepworth Gallery at the weekend of it's opening. I've been excited about this for ages, mostly because it's happening in my home city and nothing much happens in Wakefield.

If you don't know The Hepworth Wakefield is Yorkshire's new art gallery showing work of major contemporary artists and one of the UK's largest purpose-built galleries outside London it also provides a permanent spot for works by sculptor Barbara Hepworth.

Everything about it is fantastic, the architecture, the work, the space, the people, the typography and last but not least the free charcoal.

If you get chance, go for a visit.

DSE PRODUCT SHOOT
April 28, 2011

We had the pleasure of working with Guy Farrow for two days this week at his awesome converted Victorian school studio over in Leeds. The brief was to capture a new fresh layout/look for the DSE product ranges which will be used in may different medias throughout this year.

The images look fantastic and will make my life a lot easier when it comes to the designs. Just need to go through the contact sheet and get choosing.

Charity begins at Holme (Moss)
April 20, 2011

Had a strange encounter with a mobility scooter 1800ft up on Holme Moss this week. The man at the controls, an ex-service man, Simon Angel MBE travelling from John O’Groats to Lands End, the brain child of ‘The Rally for Remembrance’ project.

Details can be found at http://www.rallyforremembrance.co.uk – make a donation, he’s an inspiration to all.

According to the AA route planner he’s only got 380 miles to go!

Tri it on!!!
March 25, 2011

Continuing on in true ‘mid-life crisis’ tradition (Steve exempt), 2011 sees The Big Man from Progress Packaging, Steve c/o Robertson Baxter and myself embark on a ‘fairly’ vigorous training regime in our attempt to participate, and more importantly complete various sprint triathlon events. Namely Scissett Triathlon//05.06.11. Castle Howard//24.07.11 and my participation again in the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride//18.06.11.

The tri suit has arrived, the nights are getting lighter and the clocks go back – no excuse now!

The long and winding road!
September 20, 2010

Well, we did it and here’s the proof.

We had a great day out, the atmosphere was fantastic. Not so fantastic was the mental wall I hit at around eight miles, however. And yes Dom, that last mile was the longest mile of my life.

More importantly we raised over £600.00, so a great thank you to everyone who gave their support and sponsored us.

We’re hoping to take part again next year having now got the bug. There’s talk of adding Wilmslow half marathon and Castle Howard triathlon to the agenda – anyone care to join us?

Wimbledon 2010
July 6, 2010

Had to share this with you.

I took Grandma H to Wimbledon last week as a birthday surprise. As you can see she thoroughly enjoyed herself and even dressed up for the occasion, and yes she did drink all that jug of Pimm’s to herself, not bad for 89 – that must be where I get it from!

No sweat, Andy
March 11, 2010

The website we designed and built for Warehouse Gym goes live today - not just a run down of the gyms excellent facilities, staff and training programs, but also hub for free articles on exercise/diet/etc put together by personal trainer and owner Andy Peacock. Very pleased with the outcome and as a bonus I learned some useful info!

4,3,2,1... Exhibition!
February 12, 2010

The stats – a relationship spanning over four years, a three month project, a two night stay in Dubai and one objective – to deliver the best stand in their industry - job done!

it was great to experience first hand the gratitude for all our hard work. Subsequently, the exhibition stand created a wealth of interest and hopefully for DSE potentially new and expanding business.

On a personal note, thank you to the DSE Sales team for making me feel both welcome and productive  - next China!!!

Sir Legend
September 28, 2009

Came across this image in my iphone which I’d forgotten about. Look who I bumped into whilst visiting the Silverstone Classics with Denis and David from KKI.

Apparently, he never wears a seatbelt, not even on a plane.

Not only are these logos (mostly) nice, each has a twist or something hidden. It's a good read...

Apple App Store 'Hyperwall'
August 26, 2009

We have been in awe of Apple's revolutionary exhibition display after the link, take a look at the videos after the link to see what we mean. To summarise - all the Apps are lined up on screens and when someone purchases one it pulsates. Simple but brilliant! The best bit is the colour coding!

Breakup!
July 16, 2009

It’s been a long and turbulent relationship between Adam and his car, which came to a dramatic climax yesterday. He’s considering taking up the Government on their Scrappage Programme offer.

Anyone got any advice for Ad?

Saturday at Heaton Park
June 8, 2009

If you didn't manage to get a ticket to Heaton Park this weekend you missed out on a superb show from Oasis, Kasabian etc. We are all in the mood for the festival season now :) A few pictures from the gig before it got too rowdy to hold a camera still...
